The working of ring joint gaskets (RTJ Gasket) can be explained by the axial compressive load causing them to deform and flow to irregularities in the flange grooves that it seals. Our Octagonal Gaskets are compatible to use with modern design octagonal type grooved flanges and with specially grooved flanges so that the gasket and the flange remain tightly pressed against each other, avoiding leakages.
Use of dissimilar metallic flanges with a conductive gasket material assisted by a suitable electrolyte sets up a galvanic cell, corroding the anodic metal. It is here that the flange insulating kit gasket or insulation kit comes into use protecting pipeline flange corrosion.
